This is a tool I developped during my last year at MoPA for my thesis film.

It came about because I wanted to gain time when setting up the compositing scenes, and so that we could always stay up to date on the newest renders.

Here is how it works (using Python script and Prism environment variables):

– The tool automatically loads the latest rendered version of each layer and its according cryptomatt within the current sequence and shot. 

– If the layer is already in the scene, the tool will update it, if not the tool will properly create the read node and load the file.

– The artist can choose to load the denoised or non-denoise version of the layer (if the denoised version doesn’t exist the regular version will still be loaded instead).

– All layers are updated at the click of a button.
